Kermit first appeared in the 1955 show Sam and Friends. Originally Kermit was never a frog until the late 1960's in which he appeared in the made- for-TV movie, Hey Cinderella and Sesame Street. On the Street he would often be a reporter or a teacher to such Muppets {{w|Cookie Monster}} and {{w|Grover}}. In 1977, Kermit would become the star of {{w|The Muppet Show}} along with older Muppets such as {{w|Rowlf the Dog}} and {{w|Beautiful Day Monster}}.
