History[edit]

Duff Gardens is shown in a photograph in the Simpson family photo album.[1]

Bart and Lisa Simpson visit Duff Gardens with their aunt Selma. They see the mascots of Duff Beer, The Seven Duffs, although only Tipsy, Queasy, Surly, and Remorseful are shown. They enter the Beer Hall of Presidents, where they are the only ones inside. In the gift shop, Bart spots "Beer Goggles", a sort of glasses that mimicks what drunks see. Aunt Selma appears young, feminine, and beautiful to Bart and also somehow, alters her voice. Later, the three ride The Little Land of Duff attraction, where they hear a repetitive song. Lisa begins to hallucinate after drinking some "water" from this aquatic ride and continues hallucinating through the Electric Parade. Bart goes to The Barrel Roll, where he is rescued just before falling. They are taken to the security office, where Lisa is brought after being rescued from swimming naked in The Fermentarium. A doctor gives Lisa several pills. Strung-out from her hallucinations, Lisa declares herself "The Lizard Queen!" Selma tells the security official not to blame the kids, as it wasn't their fault.[2]

Behind the Laughter[edit]

Duff Gardens is a parody of Busch Gardens (owned by brewery company Anheuser-Busch) and Disneyland, including the "Little Land of Duff" ride, which is a direct parody of the Disneyland ride "It's A Small World".
