Zachary Vaughn is the teacher that replaced Edna Krabappel as the fourth grade teacher at Springfield Elementary School.

History[edit]

After Edna was fired because of a drunken mishap secretly caused by Bart and the rest of the class spiking her coffee, Zach took her place on the Fourth Grade. With a fresh Masters in education at Tufts University, this was in fact his first class ever.

Initially he was thought to be very cool by most of the kids thanks to his methods, like using Facebook, Twitter and sending text and video messages to them, promoting the use of the internet to solve things instead of giving them traditional lessons and homework. He was also shown to have a laid back approach to parental expectations and approvals, for example telling Homer he needed to relax and that he was doing a good job.

He was eventually fired too after it was discovered he spiked his Blue Bronco Energy Drink with 'a little' vodka. Principal Skinner believed it was Bart's doing again at first, but he denied it. Eventually Zach himself admitted to it, hinting it was a very regular occurrence. Finally, during a drunken rant (which Skinner tried to silence from the kids) on what he considered a 'glorified hamster wheel' state of bureaucracy, the bad quality of the school system, the hardships of life and how 'only alcohol can make it bearable', he was taken off the premises by Willie proclaiming that 'it's always the good ones that go crazy the fastest'.[1]

He was present at T-Rex's birthday party.[2]

He was seen in the audience for Tabitha Shingle's live recording of her podcast Interminable.[3]
