History[edit]

The ruins of the Mr. Burns' Casino.

When Springfield was going through an economic downturn, a town meeting was held and Mayor Quimby decided to legalize gambling. Mr. Burns then opened up the Mr. Burns' Casino on the Waterfront, where he had many fond memories from his childhood. The casino originally proved to be a success, drawing in many guests and making a lot of money.

When Marge went to visit Homer at work, she found a quarter on the floor and used it in a slot machine. She then quickly became addicted to gambling. One day when Marge was at the casino, Maggie got lost and almost got eaten by Anastasia, Gunter and Ernst's tiger. She was saved by Barney and returned to Marge, who resumed gambling shortly after. Eventually, after Marge didn't come home to help Lisa with making a costume for school, Homer had to drag Marge away from the casino.

Homer became a blackjack dealer at the casino, getting moved from the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant. One of the blackjack games Homer dealt for was played by Raymond Babbitt and Charlie Babbitt. Homer caught Raymond counting cards, but kept asking him to show him the trick again as he was interested in it.

Bart tried to gamble at the casino, but was kicked out by an employee for being underage. The employee then said that he'd like to see Bart try and open his own casino, which Bart then did. Robert Goulet was booked to be one of the acts at the casino. However, Bart poached him from the airport and took him back to his casino. As a result of this, Burns told Smithers to begin thawing Jim Nabors.

Mr. Burns became very reclusive during his time running the casino. He watched the consumers on CCTV from his bedroom and became obsessed with keeping clean from germs. He also made a model plane, called the Spruce Moose, which he believed to be an actual functioning plane. Eventually, Burns realized that he missed the nuclear power plant and decided to go back to it.[1]

About a week after the casino opened, it was forgotten about and eventually closed down. However, it still got moved along with the rest of the town, which surprised Lisa. Due to the casino being abandoned, it was demolished in what was supposed to be an implosion, but was an explosion instead. Don Rickles was caught in the explosion of and a large dust cloud erupted following the destruction of the casino. The next day, Homer decided to take Ned Flanders to the casino, forgetting that it had been demolished.[2]

Description[edit]

The casino had many different games, including slot machines, blackjack, and roulette. There were also acts that performed at the casino, including Krusty the Clown, and Gunter, Ernst, and Anastasia. Gerry Cooney was the greeter at the casino, although he didn't seem very popular.[1]
