Location Information
Town: Springfield
Use: Supermarket
First appearance: "Homer and Apu"

The Monstromart is a very large supermarket located in Springfield.

Description

When compared to either the Kwik-E-Mart or the Springfield Grocery Store, the Monstromart is much bigger, with a wider choice of items. The items themselves are sold in much larger quantities than regular stores. For example, nutmeg is sold in a huge 12 pound box. As Apu comments they have a "great selection and rock-bottom prices". The store also reminds its costumers that "we love each and every one of you".[1]

The store's tagline is "Where Shopping is a Baffling Ordeal".

History

The older Monstromart sign.

Marge and Apu visited the store after Apu was fired from the Kwik-E-Mart and could not bear to shop there. Barney was also shown to shop there, confusing a giant syrup bottle with a shop attendant and then, thinking he had killed her, knocking over some cranberry sauce that were being stacked by an employee, causing a large flood. Grampa was seen holding up the express lane at the cash register because he was desperate for attention. This caused Marge and Apu to move to another lane with only single men, making it faster for them to pay.[1]

Krusty later holds a signing there.[2]
