Alexander Hubley, better known as Hub, is a runaway child who briefly attended Springfield Elementary School despite not being enrolled there.

History[edit]

Hub was seen outside Springfield Elementary when Bart and Lisa ran into school to tell everyone that Itchy and Scratchy was for babies now.[1]

During Summer vacation, Principal Skinner was in his office when he heard a noise. He saw something skittering in the halls and assumed it was an animal, so he went to get Groundskeeper Willie. The two of them tracked the creature to the school library where Hub told them that he was the ghost of a child who died long ago. Willie believed him and ran away while Skinner realized that Hub was living in the library. Skinner told Hub that he was going to put this on his permanent record, but Hub revealed that he wasn't actually enrolled in the school, he just showed up and joined Ms. Peyton's class. Skinner then planned to call child services, but Superintendent Chalmers stopped him, saying the school would get in trouble if the state found out a runaway child was squatting in it. He told Skinner to take care of Hub until he found Hub's parents.

Skinner took Hub back to his house, where Hub told Skinner that his parents were dead. He then gave a fake story about them being killed on Kim Jong-un's birthday. Skinner tried to get Hub to stay in Agnes' sewing room, but Hub climbed out the window and tried to flee. Seeing how much trouble Hub was, Skinner went to Homer and Marge for advice. Marge told Skinner to be nice to him while Homer told Skinner to be harsh towards him. When Skinner got home, he found that Hub and Nelson had made a makeshift water slide down the stairs.

Skinner took Hub to Mr. Ho-Hum's Clothiers to get him some new clothes, but Hub escaped through a vent in the dressing room. Skinner chased him around The Spending Place at Springfield Knolls until he ran into Luigi's Pizza Playland. Hub stole some pizza before diving into the ball pit. However, his greasy hands meant he couldn't get out and he started to suffocate. Skinner dived into the ball pit and brought Hub to safety. Since Skinner saved him, Hub gave him a hug and thanked him. They then spent the rest of Summer vacation together.

When the next school term came around, Skinner realized that the school was putting on a play about Peter Rabbit and made Hub audition for it. Hub got the role of Farmer McGregor, but upon realizing he only had three lines, Skinner had Lisa change the script to make Farmer McGregor the main character. Skinner's attitude towards Hub made Hub change as a person. He became a show-off because he was starring in the play. Meanwhile, Skinner was becoming very defensive of Hub, attacking anyone who said anything negative about him.

Skinner and Willie put up banners advertising McGregor: Gardener of Destiny across town. When the day of the play came along, Skinner had decided that he was going to adopt Hub. Hub got stage fright when he saw the audience. Skinner also dropped the adoption papers, which Hub found. Seeing the papers, Hub decided to flee. Skinner chased after him to try and explain, but then Hub's real parents showed up. Hub and his parents explained to Skinner that Hub was at a boarding school, but he ran away. His parents only found him because of the banners advertising the play. Before Hub and his parents left, Hub decided to perform in the play. He improvised a scene where he used farmyard metaphors to thank Skinner for caring for him and helping him flourish.[2]

Behind the Laughter[edit]

Hub had a minor background appearance in "Estranger Things" before his main role in "Guess Who's Coming to Skinner".
