Character Information
|
The Itchy & Scratchy robots were a group of robots shaped like Itchy and Scratchy. They paraded around Itchy & Scratchy Land as tourist attractions.
History
The robots were equipped with weapons such as axes, chainsaws, mallets and machine guns. Several times a day, they paraded down the main street of Itchy & Scratchy Land attacking each other. Marge voiced a concern about the robots being dangerous, but a nearby guard overheard her and said that the robots weren't dangerous. As state-of-the-art animatronic robots, they had sensors and programming that ensured that they would only attack each other, and never attack visitors to the park.
Flash photography of the robots was forbidden. As a yokel tourist discovered when he took a picture, the camera flashes made the robots spark and malfunction.
The park had a room for repairing the robots, and between accidental camera flashes, occasional breakdowns and periodic maintenance, the room's technicians were kept pretty busy. Among the technicians was Professor Frink, who predicted that according to chaos theory, all robots would eventually attack their masters, but the park's robots wouldn't do so for at least 24 hours. His calculations were proven incorrect, however, when the robots attacked as soon as he finished delivering his prediction.
The robots then started going berserk all over the park, and the staff quickly evacuated the guests. However, they left the Simpsons behind due to Bart's and Homer's repeated assaults on cast members. As the robots closed in on the family, Homer threw everything in his pockets at them to try to fight them off, and replicated the yokel tourist's discovery when he threw his camera and the flash went off and stunned four robots. Equipped with this knowledge, the Simpsons began taking photo after photo of the robots, breaking into a souvenir shop for disposable cameras to use in the fight. The family eventually won the fight, stunning all the robots while escaping mostly unscathed (Homer lost two hairs when the robots first attacked). Park owner Roger Meyers, Jr. gave them two free passes in appreciation for their stopping the killer robots.
Behind the Laughter
- When the Itchy & Scratchy robots look at each other and at park visitors (to determine whether they should attack), information about what they see appears on a heads-up display, similar to the Terminator.
