'''David "Dave" Shutton''', voiced by [[Harry Shearer]], is a newspaper reporter who works for the ''[[Media in The Simpsons#Newspapers|Springfield Shopper]]''; he wears a fedora similar to those worn by reporters of the 1940s. He first appeared in “[[Two Cars in Every Garage and Three Eyes on Every Fish]]” which probably also was his most relevant appearance. Shutton has not made any speaking appearances since season 14's "[[Bart of War]]".

He was present when Bart caught and discovered a three eyed fish, Blinky. Dave also saw the waste coming out of the near by power plant, and published the story about the mutation.[1]

Shutton ask Dr. Hibbert for update on Little Miss Springfield winner Amber Dempsey's condition after she was struck by lightening at the grand opening for SHØP, learning she will be fine and has just won the Little Miss Intensive Care pageant.[2]

Kent Brockman seems to hold him in slight contempt, possibly because they work in different news mediums. When Shutton arrived at the scene where Mr. Burns had been shot and asked what was going on, Brockman replied "Oh, do your research, Shutton!"[3]
