Barb used to be a javelin thrower, until her breasts became too big to be an athlete any more.
When Ned Flanders came across a large amount of money, he donated it to St. Giles Orphanage, which Barb ran. Whilst Ned wanted to make the donation anonymously, Barb convinced him to make the donation in the name of someone else, so Ned chose his grandfather, Ned Flanders I. This donation led to Costas Becker going after Ned.
Barb became smitten with Ned and asked him out on a date to the Springfield Winter Market, which Ned accepted. After their date, they went back to Barb's house and Barb invited Ned in. As they made out, Ned noticed that Barb had multiple pictures of her with Sideshow Mel, then realized that she was married to him. Barb explained to Ned that she and Mel had an arrangement and that she could sleep with anyone she wanted to. However, Ned was uncomfortable with this and decided to leave.[2]
When Ned decided that he needed to get the money back to pay off Becker and rescue Homer, who Becker had kidnapped, he broke into St. Giles Orphanage and tried to open the safe. However, he couldn't find the key. Barb then walked into her office and found Ned there, sitting at her desk. Ned noticed that she had the key around her neck and so he told her that he couldn't get her out of his mind and he wanted to sleep with her. Barb accepted this and they slept together in her office, with Ned taking the key from her during this. After they had sex, Barb went to get Faygos from the mini fridge for her and Ned and Ned used that moment to open the safe and take the money. When Barb realized that Ned had stolen the money, she threw an American flag like a javelin through Ned's car, causing it to crash.
After Homer rescued the money, flag, and inadvertently rescued Ned from the burning car, Barb arrived at the scene and hailed Homer a hero for rescuing the money for the orphans. She also told everyone that Ned seduced her and said that she was in a closed relationship with Sideshow Mel, to paint Ned in a worse light.[3]
Personality[edit]
Barb is a devout Christian, even though she has an open marriage. To keep up the appearance of being a devout Christian, she tells people that she's not in an open relationship.
