Bill McCloskey is a player for the Springfield Isotopes. His first and only major appearance in the show was in the Dancin' Homer episode, when he hits the game-winning grand slam in the Shelbyville Shelbyvillians at Isotopes game after Homer started dancing to cheer up the crowd. He had been described by the stadium play-by-play announcer as "mediocre slugger."

In the It's in the Cards Simpsons Comics' story, Milhouse calls McCloskey the Isotopes' "cleanup hitter." He's later showed hosting a baseball instructional video in The Battle of the Batboys.
