History
He spoke to Bart and Lisa when Bart said that cartoons don't need to make sense. He also spoke to Homer when he got laid off.

It is said that Homer can only see him. Troy McClure, however, speaks to him in an out-of-universe scene. He was seen in a sneak preview of season 9.
