Medusa was a Gorgon, a monster in Greek mythology.
History[edit]
Medusa was dating King Polydectes, but she dumped him. Polydectes never got over her, so Medusa started turning people into stone with her second-hand smoke to get his attention again. One of these unfortunate victims was Ottovius.
King Polydectes asked Perseus to bring back Medusa's head as a punishment for crashing his "mini-chariot" into him. When Perseus arrived at Medusa's cave, he found her talking with her sister, Circe. Perseus waited for Circe to leave, then attacked Medusa, but Medusa revealed that she didn't turn people into stone by looking at them, but from her second-hand smoke. Perseus then ran away from her and set his hamsters on Medusa. While Medusa wasn't distracted by the hamsters, the snakes were, and chased after the hamsters. This gave Perseus an opening to capture Medusa.
Perseus took Medusa back to King Polydectes, and Medusa revealed that she still had feelings for the king. King Polydectes proposed to her, and they got married. However, Medusa had turned the king to stone, so he had to be wheeled in to the wedding.[1]
