History

When Marge wanted Homer to name one person who's gotten rich by doing yo-yo tricks, he starting to think about whether Donald Trump, Arnold Palmer or Bill Cosby could have done, but he found out they hadn't.[1]

A homeless man at the Bumtown Soup Kitchen called Seymour Skinner Donald Trump, right after Edna Krabappel stood him up.[2] When Lisa came to pick up Marge Simpson, Charles Heathbar said that he wanted to tell to his wife "you're fired!" When Marge and Lisa didn't laugh, he said that he had imitated Donald Trump and if they knew who he was, they would have laughed. Marge and Lisa than told him that they knew who he was, and he told them that he not believe them as the joke was perfect.[3]

Trump served as President of the United States, immediately preceding Lisa Simpson. While in office, Trump evidently made some bad financial decisions, leaving the Simpson administration with "quite a budget crunch".[4]
