History
After Thomas Pynchon read Marge's book The Harpooned Heart, he gave a sarcastic review stating that he loved it almost as much as he loves cameras. He then placed a paper bag on his head, put a sandwich board on his torso, and started inviting people in the street to have photos taken with him, even throwing in a free autograph.[1] (In real life, Pynchon has avoided publicity since early adulthood and there are only a handful of photos of him, all dating back to before 1965.)
He was once seen tasting Marge's chicken wings.[2] He was also seen at the Gore Vidal meeting.[3]
Lisa read an issue of Granta that was about new fiction by Thomas Pynchon. The issue had Thomas Pynchon on the front cover.[4]
