Amy Tan is an American author.

History[edit]

Upon request of Lisa, the Simpsons went to a Festival of Books in which the discussion "The Future of Reading" was taking place. Amy Tan was along authors Tom Clancy and Maya Angelou at a panel answering questions to their fans. Lisa told Amy Tan that she loved The Joy Luck Club, saying that it showed how the mother-daughter bond can triumph over adversity. Amy Tan sternly replied that Lisa got her story all wrong and when Lisa tried to apologize Tan told her to just sit down.

Behind the Laughter[edit]

The Joy Luck Club is Amy Tan's most famous novel and the interpretation Lisa gives is actually correct.
