James Buchanan was the 15th President of the United States, serving from 1857-1861.

History

Buchanan was one of the Presidents that, to save money, Springfield Elementary School would no longer teach. The others were Millard Fillmore, Franklin Pierce, George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush.[1]

A picture of him was seen in a book that Superintendent Chalmers showed Bart, before Bart developed an interest in Theodore Roosevelt.[2]
