Dr. Jessup is a psychologist at Springfield Elementary School.

History

Dr. Jessup is the psychologist for fifteen schools. As a result, he does his sessions in 45 seconds per student. He told Martin that what he was experiencing was transference, where he projected his feelings for his mother onto his art teacher which is why he wanted to hug her. He then gave Martin a rubber band around his wrist and told him to snap it whenever he wanted to hug his teacher. After Martin, Bart went into the room. Bart explained his situation to Dr. Jessup, saying that he wanted Homer's attention. Dr. Jessup told Bart to act up to get his attention. After Bart, Sherri and Terri went into the room, each telling Dr. Jessup that they thought they were the oldest twin and wanted the other one to accept that.

Later, Ralph visited Dr. Jessup. He gave him advice on how to stop his bed wetting, and told him to tell his parents to spank him if he did it. Marge then went into the office and explained to Dr. Jessup that she thought Lisa was ruining the family by idolizing Homer. She also told him that she was worried that Bart was feeling neglected. Dr. Jessup told Marge that Homer had to let Lisa down gently and told her that they shouldn't have any more kids. Maggie then popped out of Marge's handbag and Dr. Jessup told her that he'd see Maggie in three years.
