James Buchanan was the 15th President of the United States, serving from 1857-1861.

History

Buchanan was one of the Presidents that, to save money, Springfield Elementary School would no longer teach. The others were Fillmore, Pierce, Bush and Bush.[1]

A picture of him was seen in a book that Superintendent Chalmers showed Bart, before Bart developed an interest in Theodore Roosevelt.[2]
