Helen Fielding is the author of Bridget Jones's Diary.

History

Sara Sloane invited her along to Marge's book club in which no one had read her book, something she claimed not to mind as long as they'd all bought it, as she would still get the money from sales. She then claimed that Americans do not understand the sophistication of British humour, only to then be seen being chased by policemen with batons, and chasing them in turn, a pastiche of the Benny Hill Show, a British comedy series which relied heavily on slapstick, as opposed to witty humour.
