Captain Joseph "Joe" Bowditch is a captain.

History[edit]

When Marge sent Homer and Bart on The Relation Ship, Bowditch helped the two have a better relationship. He also helped Arnie Pye and his son, Mr. Clark and Lewis, Ned and Rod and Todd, Apu and Gheet, and Cletus and Gitmo. During Bart's time on the ship, Bowditch promoted him to midshipman. It also turned out that Captain Bowditch suffered from alcoholism, which is why he went to sea in the first place.[1]

Captain Bowditch was in charge of a former military ship that served in World War II. He hosted a Springfield Elementary School overnight field trip on the ship, where he got the kids to clean the rust off. Sarah Wiggum stole a bottle of Straight on Shore Whiskey from his liquor cabinet. When Marge and Sarah got kidnapped, Captain Bowditch told Homer and Chief Wiggum that he didn't see it happen, but Ralph did.[2]
