- "There's nothing on earth
Like a genuine, bona fide Electrified, six-car MONORAIL!!! Springfield is getting a Monorail... again! And this time it might even work! Lay down the tracks and take your citizens and visitors on the scenic, marginally elevated route through your city. With so many building options available, your Monorail will be as unique as your imagination, or at least your Springfield, so don't wait for the proper building permits to start building in our new update!"
- ―Event description on the App Store
The Simpsons: Tapped Out Monorail content update was teased on August 7, 2015, on the official Facebook page for The Simpsons: Tapped Out, with a silhouette picture of Conductor Homer. It was released in August 11, 2015 and will last till September 15th, 2015 though in the Event Guide it says September 28th incorrectly, since date in the files and countdown ends on the correct date. Within this update, content of the Job Manager was added but yet unreleased.

First Quest Chain Gameplay
A Rail of One City
A Rail of One City Pt. 1
After the user logs in on August 11:
This town is filthy! We built all these dumpsters and garbage cans, but no way to empty them.
I used to lure in customer with the smell of hot dogs.
But the stench of week-old decaying meat... it just can't compete with the smell of all this trash.
I used to be able to find my house on account of all the trash piled up in front of it. But now that's every house.
I got no idea which one is mine. I've been wandering around on the streets for weeks.
We all have, Cletus.
We need to build the town dump.
Good idea, sweetie. Is there room right next to Flander's house?
Task: Build Springfield Dump Quest reward: 100 and 10
A Rail of One City Pt. 2
After tapping on Homer's exclamation mark:
Okay, we've got a place to put our trash. Now we just have to get it there.
What about a garbage truck?
No. Even if we built one it wouldn't move. What we need are garbage men.
According to the government roster that's, er-ah, you.
Me?
Yes, you're the town's Sanitation Commissioner.
I vaguely remember being that but didn't I lose that job, or give it back or something in the end?
No, it ended with you destroying the whole town and us having to rebuild it.
That DOES sound familiar.
Task: Make Homer Pick Up Trash (30s) Quest reward: 100 and 10
A Rail of One City Pt. 3
After tapping on Lyle Lanley's exclamation mark:
Excuse me, good people! But have you ever thought about building a monorail in this town?
We have and we did. You sold it to us and it bankrupted our town.
Really? Well then, where is it?
Nowhere now. The town got destroyed and we had to rebuild it.
Twice now apparently!
Well maybe I can convince you to buy another, with an elaborate song and dance!
Woo-hoo!
Not so fast, Sanitation Commissioner. That dump still needs stuff dumped in it.
Woo-hoo.
Everyone else, join us for the monorail musical! It looks like it might rain, though, so let's do it inside.
Task: Make Lyle Lanley Put on a Musical Extravaganza (30s, Town Hall or Brown House) Task: Make Springfielders Join in the Musical Extravaganza [x3] (30s, Town Hall or Brown House) Task: Make Homer Pick Up Trash (30s)
That was amazing! The songs, the choreography, all those celebrity cameos...
A hologram of Dr. Dre sang a duet with Dr. Dre!
I stabbed my foot with the pointy stick while picking trash.
Quest reward: 100 and 10
A Rail of One City Pt. 4
After tapping on Homer's exclamation mark:
It's decided. We'll raise the money to build a monorail!
Great, I can help fundraise! I'm really good at getting people to part with their money. Just ask Sky Finger.
I suppose you COULD join us. Or...
Task: Make Springfielders Raise Money for the Monorail [x3] (30s, Town Hall or Brown House) Task: Make Homer Pick Up Trash (30s) Quest reward: 100 and 10
Same as it Ever Was
After tapping on Lyle Lanley's exclamation mark:
Good work, people of Springfield! You've raised enough money to purchase the materials you need to build a monorail.
And put it all in an envelope, which you've handed to me.
Now for one last performance!
He disappeared!
Aw, and I was really excited for him to be a permanent part of our town.
So when Ol' Gil shows up trying to sell you stuff, you can't chase me out of town fast enough.
But this guy takes off with all your money and you wish he was permanent.
Ol' Gil wants a permanent home! What about Ol' Gil?
You want me to take care of this guy?

A Rail of One City Pt. 5
After completing Same as It Ever Was and tapping on Homer's exclamation mark:
That's it! This cool monorail story is going on, with people appearing and disappearing, and all I'm doing is picking up trash!
If I have to pick up one more rivet-
Wait, did you say rivet? Those were on the list of supplies we needed to build the monorail.
I bet if we collected enough junk around town, we could get all the supplies we needed for the monorail.
So you're saying that picking up trash is now important to the story?
Yes, and you're the Sanitation Commissioner. Is there anything we can do in exchange for your help?
Yes. Make me the monorail conductor.
I'm tired of being a glorified garbage man. I want to be a glorified bus driver!

A Rail of One City Pt. 6
After tapping on Lisa's exclamation mark:
Now that we've got the materials for the monorail, we just need someone to oversee its construction.
Don't look at me. I've already got two jobs.
Ahem-glaven... as the closest thing this town has to an engineer, I would be happy to--
Did someone call for an engineer?
What? No! I'm the egghead around here. What kind of engineer even are you anyway?
A monorail construction engineer.
*sigh* Hoyvin.
I can get your monorail operational. But first I'm going to need more finely-honed monorail parts.
Um... so far we've just been collecting junk.
That should work too.

And motor oil is pretty much just liquid plastic.
And these glowing radioactive plutonium rods from the nuclear plant are... hmm, let's call them paper.

Rail Against the Machine Pt. 1
After the user logs in on August 19:
Woohoo! I love this new job. I'm no longer hauling trash -- I'm hauling human trash!
It is a lot of fun up here. Speeding over Springfield, at speeds slightly below that of a car.
The wind in our hair, from the small fan you have in this completely sealed-in compartment.
Hmm... completely sealed-in compartment and me after breakfast is never a good combination.

After completing Off Track:

We need to reduce the weight of the train to make it safer.
This sounds like a job for my fusion-powered anti-gravity engine.
But that thing is the size of a house.
Which is a job for my matter-compressing Frink Shrink Machine!
Actually, I was thinking we could use plastic in the construction process.
Yes, I suppose that would work too.
And recycling plastic would be good for the environment!

Cool, a monorail!
I always wanted to derail a train by putting a penny on each side of the track, but I've never saved up two pennies.
With a monorail I just need one!

Bart, that's just an old wives' tale. The only thing that'll be damaged if you put a penny on the track is your penny.

One Track Mind
One Track Mind Pt. 1
After the user logs in on August 30:
I hate this job! I'd turn this train into oncoming traffic and kill everyone on it...
-if I could in any way steer this train, or there were any other trains going the other direction.
I have seen these symptoms before. It's called "Public Transit Service Depression" or PTSD.
I think PTSD is already taken.
You can't copyright an acronym. Just ask the inventors of "Two-Stage-To-Orbit" spacecraft.
For now, though, tell your father to get some sleep.

Derailed
After completing One Track Mind Pt. 1:
Dad! I meant get some sleep at home... not while you were driving.
Conducting, Lisa. In the monorail business we call driving conducting. And we call passengers souls.
That's the airline business.

I know. Creepy, isn't it?
Task: Complete Projects on the Project Board [x5] Quest reward: 100 and 10

One Track Mind Pt. 2
After completing Derailed and tapping on Lisa's exclamation mark:
Mister Cobb, you have to do something to save my Dad from having to conduct the monorail every hour of the day.
How? Build a self-conducting fully autonomous monorail? Why, such a thing would require the monorail to be sentient!
Hoyvin-Glavin-Blovin-Ipsen! Finally something in my line of expertise!
I just so happen to have spent the last five years working on just such a sentient AI.
It started as a ... ahem, companion robot *wink wink*, of course, don't they all? But it can easily be altered to drive a monorail.
Apparently there is a place for both science and mad science in this world.
All I need to make the transition is some glass.
Great! I'd been meaning to recommend that we recycle that separately as well.

Rail Yard
After the user logs in on September 4:
The Monorail is almost complete. Now all we need are some bells and whistles.
You mean unnecessary projects that provide opportunities for corrupt officials to skim a little off the top?
No, I literally need bells and whistles. We need a way to warn people before we hit them.
That's fine. I can skim off necessary projects as well.

Monorail Station
Monorail Station Pt. 1
After unlocking Monorail Station:
You know what would make being a monorail conductor even better? If there were people on the monorail to see me do it.
The problem is there's no way for them to get on. We need to build something.
What are you thinking -- human catapult?
Actually I was thinking of a monorail station.

Oh. I guess that's good too.

Monorail Station Pt. 2
After completing Monorail Station Pt. 1:
Well, we've got a couple passengers now... but it's mostly just your Gils and Molemans, looking for a place to sleep.
That's because we've only placed one station. No one can get anywhere.
Please, no one needs the monorail to get anywhere.
You can walk this town from corner to corner in less than a minute. I do it all the time for some of my obscure jobs.
What we need is to make the station we already built even bigger!
I really don't think that would solve the problem...
Less thinking, more building placing!

Monorail Station Pt. 3
After completing Monorail Station Pt. 2:
So have you come around on the idea of building more stations for people to travel to?
No. Add more pieces to the main station! Bigger is better!
People in New York don't go to Grand Central Station to take trains to dumb places in Connecticut.
A lot of them do. Also Westchester County.
No, they go there to eat lobster in that giant restaurant in the basement.
But none of these station pieces are lobster restaurants.
It doesn't matter. People can use their imaginations.
Maybe it's a lobster place, maybe it's a steak joint, maybe it's both.
The point is... the station should be big!

Ooh, Jesse Grass! It's so nice to have a fellow vegetarian in town. Care for some kale?
To me those words sound the same.
Actually I came to Springfield to protest Krustyburger.
Rumor is that they murder innocent cows and serve them in their burgers. People need to know.
Well, yeah. That's how hamburgers are made. People probably already know that, but...

Well, my protest worked. Almost no one went inside Krustyburger.
They just stayed outside with me, staring longingly at my eyes.
*sigh* It sure is.
But then I learned that it's not just animals that Krustyburger is murdering.
They ALSO put lettuce and tomato on their burgers.
Are you not familiar with what a hamburger is?

I'm sorry, Jesse, but why are you protesting the eating of plants. I thought you were a vegetarian...

Not just a vegetarian -- a level 5 Vegan. Didn't you see my unlock message?
And I'm on my way to Level 6. I won't eat anything that was ever alive.

Wow, you're so idealistic and caring and brave and...

How exactly is sleeping in the Krustyburger ball pit going to change people's eating habits?
I don't know. I was supposed to be marching in front of their door. I just got so tired.
I think maybe you need to eat something.
I had a bite of air earlier. But I spit it out because I was worried it would kill some airborne bacteria.
Yeah, I think we need to go back to Krustyburger one last time.
Task: Make Lisa Force Jesse to Eat a Burger (30s, Krusty Burger, Jesse Grass)
Oh my God! That burger tasted so good! And it gave me all this energy! Who knew eating could do that?
The only problem is... now I'm a fraud.
Because of that burger, I'm responsible for the death of plants and animals and whatever cheese comes from.
I know, but you have to eat some food.
Not at Krustyburger, you don't! My burgers contains no meat, and no vegetables. There's nothing in them that qualifies as food.

King Trash of Garbage Mountain
King Trash of Garbage Mountain Pt. 1
After tapping on Ray Patterson's exclamation mark:
Ray Patterson! You're the man whose Sanitation Commissioner job I took!
You want it back?
No, Homer, thanks. But those days are over for me.
I used to love the sexy world of waste removal. I was driving my garbage truck in the fast lane. But then I hit rock-bottom.
It was over the holidays. I should have been home with my family, but found myself on the street... hauling away old Christmas trees.
I wrapped my kids Christmas presents just so I could throw away the paper.
I made a vow after that that I would never pick up another piece of trash again.
Not a vow of silence clearly. So what do you do now?
I'm a sales manager.
For a waste removal company?
For a waste removal company.
Task: Make Ray Explain How He's Not a Garbage Man (5m) Quest reward: 100 and 10
King Trash of Garbage Mountain Pt. 2
After tapping on Ray Patterson's exclamation mark:
Mayor Quimby, I've come to talk to you about your city's trash problem.
Oh, are you a sanitation collector?
A garbage man? Not anymore. I've been through TA and quit cold turkey.
I can assure you, I'll never pick up a piece of trash again.
That's great... *coughs* quitter *cough*
But if you're not, er-ah, a garbage man, how are you going to help with our trash problem?
By helping you privatize your refuse collection with the help of my company!
Oh, so you're a lobbyist. Great, leave your bribe on the desk!
Task: Make Ray Explain How He's Not a Lobbyist (5m) Quest reward: 100 and 10
King Trash of Garbage Mountain Pt. 3
After tapping on Ray Patterson's exclamation mark:
I still don't get it. Why would a recovering trashaholic work for a trash company?
To prove to myself that I don't need it. I'm like Sam Malone running Cheers.
Pfft, that show died after 10 seasons.
So what do you say? Will you let my company manage your sanitation issues?
We'll handle everything from the purchase of overly loud garbarge trucks, to the hiring of ex-cons to drive them.
I say the same thing I said before... leave your bribe on the desk.
But it's not like that. We're a legitimate business trying to facilitate--
You're a garbage company! You compete with the mob!
If you don't want to leave it on the desk, leave it on the dresser... but you're leaving a bribe if you want our business.
Task: Make Ray Leave Mayor Quimby a Bribe (30s, Town Hall or Brown House) Quest reward: 100 and 10
King Trash of Garbage Mountain Pt. 4
After tapping on Ray Patterson's exclamation mark:
Ray Patterson, you're under arrest for attempting to bribe a government official.
Attempting? Your mayor took the money! He set the whole thing up!
Yeah, but I can't arrest him. He outranks me. This whole town is kind of corrupt.
Very well. I suppose there's to be a trial now...
Well, normally there would be. But we've done that so much in this game, and it's never that funny.
Let's just skip it!
Task: Make Ray Skip the Trial (30s, Country Court House or Town Hall or Simpson House) Quest reward: 100 and 10
King Trash of Garbage Mountain Pt. 5
After tapping on Ray Patterson's exclamation mark:
After not hearing the arguments, I find the defendant guilty of attempted bribery.
Again it wasn't attempted bribery, it was actual bribery. He took the money.
You realized that only makes it worse, don't you?
Yes, but... he TOOK the money. Aren't we going to even address that a little?
Ray Patterson, I sentence you to community service, picking up trash.
But... TA... I swore I'd never again...
Do you have a problem with my sentencing?
God no. Let me at it!

Worth a Shot Pt. 1
After unlocking Tetanus Terminal:
Them bigwigs say I ain't allowed to ride the Monorail without payin' money.
I reckon I'll just build my own station, that way people will have to pay me!
Wouldn't that just make you part of the same system that's discriminating against you?

Exactly. I'll be rich!

After completing Worth a Shot Pt. 1:

Some big city building inspector wants to shut me down 'cuz the side of my station is falling down.
Maybe I can help you repair it.
Nah, I'm just gonna expand my station instead.
That ways the falling down part won't be on the side.

After completing Worth a Shot Pt. 2:

Whoo-ee! I've done gone made it as Springfield's #1 economy class monorail!

I mean raise costs AND expand. What's the fun of one without t'other?

It Ain't Easy Being Tie-Dyed Pt. 1
After tapping on Hippie's exclamation mark:
All this recycling going on, yet the profits are still going right into the "man's" pockets!
What do you mean? We're recycling. There are no profits, and certainly no "man" that I know of.
Yeah, right. Whenever goods trade hands, there's a corporation involved that's making money.
Nope, no corporations involved. It's just people like you and me trying to make a difference.
Really?

You mean I made a billion dollars?
Template:Tapped Out Blue Haired Lawyer Icon

No, but you've joined the group of elite who talk so stiltingly, that every sentence has, at the least, three commas in it.

After tapping on Hippie's exclamation mark:

I've managed to regain my balance, and learn a lot, thanks to my medicine.
Are you referring to medicinal marijuana?
What? No, that stuff isn't really medicine. It's just a fun way to relax, and it makes crappy music tolerable.
I was referring to antidepressants, anxiety pills and ADD meds. I didn't even know I had all those things, but apparently we all do.
So what did you learn?
That it's okay for a hippie to make money, as long as he's doing something that makes the world a better place.
Like recycling?
Yeah, or making phones that are really supercomputers...
-or even to make countercultural cartoons that turn into mainstream media.

The important thing is I'm not alone.

Fast Track to Success
Fast Track to Success Pt. 1
After unlocking Mall-O-Rail Station:
Homer and Lisa always get to build things. They built this whole monorail, practically!
Well now it's Marge's turn to shine! I want... uh... hmm, what do I like?
How about a store of some kind? Nothing fancy, it doesn't have to be crazy.

Fast Track to Success Pt. 2
After completing Fast Track to Success Pt. 1:
Ooh, look at that! The Mall-O-Rail -- it's almost a pun. And I built it!
Well, I ordered it to be built, or talked about it before it got built. The important thing is, Marge is in charge!
Now what should I build next. Something new and exciting... like more of the same thing!
Task: Place Mall-O-Rail Pieces [x4] Quest reward: 100 and 10
Fast Track to Success Pt. 3
After completing Fast Track to Success Pt. 2:
Wow, this building stuff business is hard!
You have to come up with a story about why you want to build things, and then think of a bunch of funny stuff to say.
Except in this case.
And for what? To make a bigger train station mall? I mean, do we really need more places to shop in this town?
Well, I say enough is enough. It's time to stop building things!
Task: Place Mall-O-Rail Pieces [x8] Quest reward: 100 and 10

Social Engineering
Social Engineering Pt. 1
After tapping on Sebastian Cobb's exclamation mark:
I'm starting to like this town. Perhaps I will stay here.
As the principle of mass dilation said to the matter accelerating near the speed of light, not so fast!
I'm the scientist in this town. I even have a crazy house that's never been in the show to prove it!
I'd have thought you relished the idea of another intellect in town. We could work on papers together.
Nice try, Cobb. But I don't publish with people whose names come before mine alphabetically.
But you can't make me leave -- I've already been paid for.
You made the wrong mad scientist mad!

After tapping on Sebastian Cobb's exclamation mark:
How did that man beat me in science? Half the things he was saying didn't even make sense.
Science isn't about making sense -- look at quantum mechanics! If you want a role in this town, you're going to need a new angle.
Hmm. Well, I HAVE always been a bit of a doom-and-gloom pessimist. Does this town need a nay-sayer?
I should say not.
You think you've got a more negative attitude than me? You clearly love food, while I love nothing.
Wrong! I am heavyset not because I love food, but because I hate myself.
When I'm done with you, those glasses you're wearing will be rose-colored!

Worst. Joke. Ever.
I need a niche... but what?
What?
Yes, what.

I'm sorry, but when you say "what" it sounds like "vhat"... even though it ain't written that way.

Social Engineering Pt. 4
After tapping on Sebastian Cobb's exclamation mark:
It's useless. I have nothing to contribute to this world. I may as well not even exist.
Nice try there, Colonel Clink. But utter hopelessness is MY thing!
You don't want to have a lack of self-esteem with me. I've got noose bruises in places you can't imagine.
*sigh* I must be the most unoriginal character in Springfield.
Well, at least that's something.

You're right! That's my defining characteristic. Being non-unique is what makes me unique!
