Character Information
|
Neil Armstrong is an American astronaut and the first person to walk on the Moon.
History[edit]
Armstrong had a booth at the Springfield Bi-Mon-Sci-Fi-Con, but no one wanted his autograph or even cared that he had actually been to the Moon. Annoyed by the convention attendees' indifference, Armstrong came close to firing his agent.[1]
Lisa asks Homer what is somebody had told him he could watch the Moon landing. Homer remember how Grampa Simpson was shedding a tear watching as Neil Armstrong set foot on the Moon and delivered his famous "One small step ..." line while Homer is not watching instead listening to records and singing along to "Yummy Yummy Yummy."[2]
While there were still married Krusty prevented his first ex-wife Holly Hippie from seeing the Moon landing because he was jealous of Neil Armstrong.[3]
Krusty the Clown cited Armstrong's first steps on the moon as one of the very few notable televised events.[4]
After learning that Maggie had her heart set on having the moon, Homer became determined to give it to her. Barney told Homer that he could buy the moon from him, because he won it from Neil Armstrong in a dice game. Homer then bought the moon from Barney for a beer and gave it to Maggie.[5]

When Homer and Lisa got onto the carousel at Krustyland, Homer said that they were the first people "to ever ride this baby", and they were like "That space guy who did that moon thing!" Lisa asked if he meant Neil Armstrong, and Homer replied that he meant Chewbacca.[7]
Behind the Laughter[edit]
Neil Armstrong died on August 25, 2012 in Columbus, Ohio.
