When Ned worked as a door-to-door salesman, he was friends with Gil Gunderson, Harold Hill, and Willy Loman. When Gil told the group that he sold Karpet King vacuum cleaners by breaking down crying, Willy said that that wasn't bad. When Ned revealed that he was selling Vertebreaker Trampolines, Willy laughed because they were notoriously difficult to sell. Later, Willy was at the diner when Gil revealed to Ned that the trampolines could cause death. Willy said that that was just the game they were in and said that if you do not like death, get out of children's toys.[2]
