Bernard "Barney" Fife is a deputy sheriff on The Andy Griffith Show.
History[edit]
The Simpson family watched Before They Were Famous when Shary Bobbins was their nanny. The episode they showed contained a clip where Charles Bronson was on The Andy Griffith Show as a temporary replacement for Andy Griffith. In the clip, Fife asked Bronson where Otis was. Bronson replied that he had shot Otis, which surprised Barney. Bronson then said he was going to Emmett's Fix-It Shop to "fix Emmett".[1]
Chief Wiggum was watching The Andy Griffith Show and talking to Barney Fife on the TV. Fife then said he was needed back on set, before spookily saying that he had to go.[2]

Barney Fife is a character from The Andy Griffith Show and Don Knotts could not reprise his role as Barney Fife due to his retirement. Dana Gould voiced him instead.
