Matt Groening (known by his creations as The Creator) is the creator of The Simpsons, Futurama and Life in Hell. He is seen as a God-like character, due to him creating the Simpsons universe, and is a celebrity (of sorts) in Springfield. However, he is seen as an antagonist to the Simpsons family.[1] It has been hinted at that Matt is gay. He lives in The Creator's Mansion, which is filled to the brim with money, gold and statues of his many creations.

Matt seems to be very acclaimed, since when people saw him at a comic convention, everyone went for him for an autograph. Matt told them they can also take a bit of his 'stache, as they say it's good luck.[2] However, when Homer sees a drawing of Bongo the Rabbit by Matt Groening (from his comic Life in Hell) he says Matt is not even a good artist.[3]
According to Channel 6, Matt Groening is gay, as he appears in a list in which all gay people appear.[4] He is also in Comic Book Guy's banned list in the Android's Dungeon & Baseball Card Shop, along with Sideshow Bob, Bart and Milhouse.[5]
When some "Everyman" comic books were being loaded in a truck, Matt Groening stole all of them and threw them into his truck.[6]

In "The Simpsons 138th Episode Spectacular", Matt Groening is depicted as a one-armed, one eyed aging WWII veteran known for comics such as "Damnation", "Johnny Reb" and "True Murder Stories".

In "Treehouse of Horror X", Matt Groening is along the people Comic Book Guy (as "The Collector") kidnapped and put into aluminized PET film bag.
The Simpsons Game
In "The Simpsons Game", Matt Groening appears n the level "Five Characters in Search of an Author", in which he is "the creator" of both "The Simpsons" and "Futurama", and his mansion is full of coin pills, dollar sign-shaped bushes and Simpsons characters items, such as statues and trees). When Homer and Bart go to his office, he attacks them with Bender and Zoidberg (some of Futurama's main characters) draws who come to life. Homer and Bart defeat Matt, but he escapes in his helicopter after signing his window with his signature.
