"Five Characters in Search of an Author" is the fifteenth stage of The Simpsons Game. The Simpsons have the four keycards to open the door to the creator's mansion, so Homer and Bart head in.

Description[edit]

Once the levels "NeverQuest", "Grand Theft Scratchy", "Medal of Homer" and "Big Super Happy Fun Fun Game" are completed, this level is unlocked.

Plot[edit]

The Simpsons have found all four keycards to open the door to the creator's mansion. After talking to their 8-bit counterparts (who ask them how many lives they needed to get here), they head in. The mansion is full of coins and Simpsons character models. Homer and Bart decide to pee on his dollar sign-shaped trees before entering, but their creator, who turns out to be Matt Groening, watches them, so he sends his lawyers to attack Homer and Bart. They combat the lawyers using Homer's "Gummi-Homer" power and Bart's Bartman power. They reach the door to the mansion, but to open the door they have to solve a puzzle: stepping on a piano on the floor to make sound the Simpsons' theme, which opens the door. Once inside, they defeat more lawyers and reach Matt Groening's office. Matt is on his desk, on the highest ledge. He draws two Futurama characters, Bender and Zoidberg, who come to life and attack Homer and Bart. Once they defeat them all, Homer uses his Homer Ball power to boost on a coin pile and hit Matt Groening, who is on a balcony above. He lies on the floor, only to be kicked by Homer and Bart. After Marge stops them, Lisa tells Matt how they dislike being video game characters. Matt seems to understand, but he doesn't care, since he presses the self-destruction button and goes away in his helicopter (after signing the window with his signature).

Gameplay[edit]

Xbox 360/PS3 Version[edit]

Run forward and kill the lawyers. Gummi Homer will be the easiest way to kill the lawyers while you make your way to the limousines in front of the mansion. You'll need to destroy them all to stop the influx of lawyers. Now proceed up the stairs to the front door. The door bell is the Simpsons' theme. The sequence for the door bell is: Purple-Orange-Pink, Purple-Orange-Pink-Black-White, Purple-Orange-Pink-Black-White-Orange-Purple-Blue.

Once inside the mansion, Matt Groening hides up in the balconies and sends Benders and Zoidbergs to hassle Homer and Bart. The first balcony he appears in is the one on the far left. Homerball speed burst up the ramp and hit the button squarely to close the curtain. Groening then moves to the opposite side. So climb the stairs and move by his position. Chandeliers are hanging from the ceiling. Bart can grapple up to one that is near the entrance. From the initial chandelier grapple to two more than glide to the third that moves up and down. Bart should now be in front of and above Groening. Glide down to the lever and pull it to close the curtain. Groening now moves to a balcony where the ramp is partially obscured by a pit of gold water. Additionally, giant pencils will block Homer from making a direct run at the switch. Go at an angle and time the burst just after the pencils move away to hit the button. If you can steady yourself at the bottom of the ramp you just have to watch the middle pencil. Now grapple up to the same chandelier as you did earlier. This time when you arrive at the one that moves up and down, glide over to the other side of the hall and land on another chandelier. Grapple over twice and glide once before gliding down to the lever. Now a large ramp is made from the center table. Homerball burst up the ramp to defeat Mr. Groening.


Wii/PS2/PSP Version[edit]

Use the Gummi Homer power-ups and gold bar ammo for Bart to defeat the group of lawyers and destroy the limousines. Move forward to find a courtyard with more lawyers and some columns. Defeat the lawyers and then use the trampoline to jump up onto the columns. Glide to the lever on the left and pull it to open the gate to the shark pool. Shoot the Wiggum piñatas to get more ammo and power-ups for Homer. Grapple to the hook across the pool and pull the lever to electrocute the sharks. Homer can then jump across. Use Homer Ball to bring down the pillar and cross to the next part. Defeat the lawyers there and knock down the next pillar across the pool. Turn left to find the front door. You'll find a series of buttons on the floor where you have to repeat the melody that you see to reproduce the theme song to The Simpsons, which will open the door to the mansion.

Inside the mansion, Defeat the waves of lawyers until the door on the second floor opens up. Enter the next room and wait for the pencil spikes to push in. Run in as they retract and jump onto the pencils blocking the way. Wait for the spikes to push out again and jump on top of the cluster, then onto the blue wire on the right side. Wait for the pencils to appear again and quickly run to the end. Step on the button to shut down the pencil spikes and open the next door.

In the second room of the mansion, defeat all of the lawyers and then step on the red button next to the gold mirror. This will reflect the light to a mirror higher up. Hop on the bookcases to get to the second mirror and press the button. Jump back down and run to the other side. Use Homer Ball to knock down the pillar and create a bridge to the newly revealed platforms. Jump across and activate the third mirror. Use the first chandelier to get to a ledge next to some vines, then use the vines to get to the fourth mirror. Use the next chandelier to get across to some small pillars. Use them to glide to the fifth mirror on a nearby ledge. Press that button to open the exit door. Ride the last chandelier to get there and defeat the group of lawyers before you enter.

In the boss fight against Matt Groening, destroy the waves of Benders and Zoidbergs that he creates. After you defeat each wave, Groening runs to a different part of the room. When he is finally up on top directly above Homer and Bart, turn into Homer Ball and dash into the ramp of coins, and knock Groening from the platform, defeating him.


DS Version[edit]

In the mansion courtyard, head right and use Bart's slingshot to take out the lawyers. Jump onto the fountain and grapple to the top. Cross the columns on the right to find a lever. Get Homer to the other side and use Homer Ball dash on the ramp. Defeat the lawyers on the other side, then press the buttons in this order: Gray, blue, yellow, red, green.

Inside the mansion, use the pencil platforms to cross the spikes and reach the second level. Watch for the bees, then use the grapple hook to move across columns. Take out the lawyers and follow the sketchpads to the next area.

In the Life in Hell area, grapple to the boat and pull the lever by the Weenie Barn. Get Homer across the water, float onto the Weenie Barn, and press the button to switch back to Bart. Use the vent to reach grapple hooks and platforms. Defeat the lawyers, shoot the target, and use helium to float Homer over Bongo's ear. Take out more lawyers and hit the red button to open the gate for Bart.

Into the next area, avoid falling into pits caused by money bags. Defeat the lawyers, use the grapple hook to climb, and time your jumps to avoid falling moneybags and bees. Climb the fence and navigate the pencil platforms until you reach the lever. Repeat the process with Helium Homer, using tanks to float up and across obstacles. Reach the ladder to continue.

At the boss fight with Matt Groening, shoot the targets above him and close the doors. Defeat Benders and Zoidbergs for ammo and hearts. Keep attacking until Groening reaches the middle door and close it to defeat him.

  1. On the hedge on the left side of the driveway. Use the money piles to jump up there.
  2. Above the pile of money in the center of the driveway.
  3. Turn left after entering Matt Groening's mansion and run behind the pile of money in the corner.
  4. On the right side of the dinner table, in the middle of the pool of liquid gold.
  5. Get to the area near Matt Groening's desk and turn left to find a couch with a glowing light on it. Bounce on the couch to get the collectible.

Krusty Koupons

  1. Jump on the hedge on the left side of the driveway then look towards the pile of money in the center to see the collectible floating above a pillar.
  2. On the left side of the dinner table, in the middle of the pool of liquid gold.
  3. Wait until Groening has moved to the other side of the room, then grapple to the first chandelier from the entrance. Grapple up to the next, higher chandelier and look across the room. You should see one chandelier moving up and down. Glide to it when it's at its lowest then glide to the collectible above the lever.
  4. From the same moving chandelier, glide towards the pillar on the right side of the entrance.

  2. After revealing the stairs, go through the right door with Bart. Use the trampoline and fishing lines to pull a lever, then switch to Homer and go through the opened door to get the second bottlecap.
  3. In the second room of the mansion with the mirrors, head up the left steps, Homer Ball into a pillar to create a bridge, and cross to find the third bottlecap.
  4. At the third mirror, drop down to the platforms on the right to grab the fourth bottlecap.
  5. In Matt Groening's office, go around the left side of the left staircase to find the fifth bottlecap.

  1. At the start, climb the vines on the left and jump to the platform to find Bart's first Krusty Koupon.
  2. In front of the barfing Barney statue, at the top of the newly-revealed stairs.
  3. After opening the first door to the mansion, climb the vines to the left of the open door, jump between ledges and vines, then onto a pipe to get Bart's third Koupon.
  4. Under the fifth mirror in the second room of the mansion, look down and to the right. Glide to the platform to grab the fourth Koupon.
  5. In Matt Groening's office, head up the stairs and jump to the balcony. It's in the far back corner.
