Mr. Hoots is a owl that was living at the Springfield Bird Sanctuary.
History
When Lisa was volunteering at the Springfield Bird Sanctuary, she was looking after Mr. Hoots. Lisa found that Mr. Hoots has been injured six times before that time and wondered why. When the Bird Sanctuary closed down temporarily due to all the birds flying away, Lisa temporarily adopted Mr. Hoots to stop Cletus from taking and eating him. Lisa quickly found that Mr. Hoots was a menace. He turned her homework into a nest and then tried to carry Snowball II off. Later, when Lisa was taking Mr. Hoots out to try and strengthen his bad wing, he attacked Sherri and Terri.
Lisa took Mr. Hoots to The Veterinarian where the veterinarian told Lisa that whilst his wing was healing nicely, the owl was a jerk, which was probably why he had been injured so many times. As Lisa left, she tripped over due to her shoelaces having been tied together by Mr. Hoots. This reminded her of Bart and gave Lisa an idea of how to deal with the owl. Lisa started using reverse psychology, telling the owl to not do what she actually wanted him to do. This led to Mr. Hoots doing those things.
Lisa started to use her ability to control Mr. Hoots to her advantage. She told him to not attack Nelson when he was bulling Milhouse, and told Mr. Hoots to not attack Sideshow Bob when he was trying to kill Bart. This led to Mr. Hoots attacking Nelson and Sideshow Bob. Eventually, the birds all returned to the Bird Sanctuary, so the employees went to collect Mr. Hoots and take him back. However, Lisa was told that she could visit him whenever she wanted to.
When Lisa visited Mr. Hoots again, Mr. Hoots had the lunchbox rigged with an airhorn which Lisa had accidentally used to scare off all the birds previously. Mr. Hoots purposely opened the lunchbox which set off the airhorn and scared all the birds away again.
