Dexter Colt is a private detective hired by Homer to find out about Lisa.
History
Homer wanted to get to know Lisa better, so on Moe's suggestion he hired Colt, who could find out about anyone. Colt got to work on finding out about Lisa, breaking into her locker at school, blackmailing Principal Skinner into letting him see her permanent record, and bribing her fellow students. Eventually, he put together a report on everything Lisa liked and left it for Homer.
When Homer went to pay Colt for his services, he was shocked to learn that Colt was charging $1,000, which included frivolous personal expenses such as a $40 steak and silver bullets. Homer refused to pay and fled Colt's office. As retaliation, Colt trashed the Screaming Monkey Medical Research Center and stole the animals, framing Lisa in the process.
With the police closing in, Homer and Lisa fled to The Three Seasons Motel, where Homer admitted to Lisa that he had hired Colt to find out about her. Fleeing from the police again, Homer and Lisa ended up at a traveling circus, where they found the stolen animals. At that point, Colt showed up and chased Homer into the Hall of Mirrors. As Colt was about to kill Homer, Lisa entered the hall and blinded Colt with the laser pointer she had gotten from Bart. Colt was then arrested and Lisa was exonerated.[1]
Later, having been released, Colt was hired by Mr. Burns to find out about Burns' cousin Lyla. When Colt demanded payment, Burns pressed the trapdoor button under his desk, but he had forgotten that the desk had recently been moved and so he fell through the trapdoor instead.[2]
