Hercules was a divine hero in Greek mythology and the son of Zeus.
History[edit]
Homer told Bart the story of Hercules and the lion. The story was about a big mean lion who got a thorn in his paw. All the villagers tried to pull it out, but nobody was strong enough! So Hercules tried and Hercules used his mighty strength, and he did it. The lion was so happy, he gave Hercules this big thing of riches. Bart asked Homer how a lion got rich, so Homer explained it was the olden days.[1]
Troy McClure played him in The Erotic Adventures of Hercules.[2]
When Homer and Bart made a film about the first Olympics, they say that Hercules (played by Ned Flanders) was in the original Olympics committee. In Lisa's movie about the Olympics, she proves them wrong.[3]

After Hera finds out Zeus has an illegitimate son called Hercules, she gives Hercules 12 labors to complete. The first is to kill the Hydra, which grows two heads for everyone to cut off. Hercules defeats it by making it argue over who will rob him. Then he has to clean the Augean Stables, where he convinces a rich Greek that gold is worthless and that dung is valuable. He then deals with the various creatures he is tasked to capture by getting Hermes to send the Grecian SPCA to catch them, since they don't have a license and may be rabid. Hercules then returns to Hera with only 10 of the tasks complete. Hercules decides that that Hera would suit Zeus's position much better, so she takes this role, only to cause havoc to those down on Earth.[4]
