'''Matt Groening''' ('''The Creator''') is the creator of ''The Simpsons'' and ''Futurama'', who lives in his mansion filled to the brim with money, gold and statues of his creations.

Matt Groening appeared and was mentioned in The Simpsons several times. In "The Simpsons 138th Episode Spectacular", Matt Groening is depicted as a one-armed, one eyed aging WWII veteran known for comics such as "Damnation", "Johnny Reb" and "True Murder Stories". In "Bart's Comet", a list of people who are allegedly gay quickly flash on a TV screen, one of them Matt Groening (the list also includes other cast members of The Simpsons). He appears himself in full caricature in the episode "My Big Fat Geek Wedding". Groening also appeared previously as himself in the season 11 episode "Guess Who's Coming to Criticize Dinner?" as part of the opening couch gag.

Throughout the series, Matt Groening is mentioned as the creator of Futurama and Life in Hell, but no mention is made of The Simpsons. In "Mom and Pop Art", Homer sees a drawing of Blinky the Rabbit by Matt Groening. When Homer criticizes him, saying that he's not even a good artist, a giant pencil with the eraser end pointing comes down from the top of the screen, appearing to "erase" Homer (in reality, it's a sculpture being carried by two workers).

There are further appearances, one being when The Simpson Family are going to the Bi-monthly-Sci-Fi-convention in search of Mrs. Krabappel and Comic Book Guy. When they get there Bart shouts : "Look, it's Matt Groening!" In which Matt says "I can sign your Bender toy! Take a bit of my 'stache! They say it's good luck!" etc.

As Bart and Homer proceed to close the curtains he is standing, he runs to the mansion's highest point, only to end up falling to the ground thanks to Homer. After the fight, he is cruelly kicked by both Bart and Homer, wich Marge interrupts by telling them to "stop kicking the man who doodled you! It isn't nice!". Lisa asks why he threatened their lives so much, to which Matt Groening fakes guilt, and rapidly activates the Videogame Engine's Self-Destruct Button and escaping in a helicopter (and rapidly coming back and writing his signature on the screen). His final game appearance is in the Game Over level as an icon God sends to stop the Simpsons from destroying his "Hii".
