Jer is an employee at King Toot's Music Store.

History[edit]

When Lisa broke her last saxophone reed sometime before a talent show, she needed Homer to get her a new one. Homer arrived at King Toot's Music Store at 6:55 pm, and with the store closing at 7 he thought there was enough time to have a beer at Moe's Tavern next door. After leaving the bar, Homer found that the music store had already closed. He came back to Moe's and blamed the employee for closing 15 seconds early, not knowing that Jer was drinking a beer at the bar. Homer begged Jer to re-open the music store but he refused. Moe remembered Jer that on one occasion he saved him and his wife from a burning car, and asked him to be kind to Homer as a way of returning the favor. Jer finally agreed and sold the 4 1/2 reed to Homer.[1]

Jer was working at King Toot's when Homer bought Lisa her saxophone. He also asked whether Homer wanted an inscription on the instrument.[2]

Jer fired Dewey Largo, who was working at King Toot's, for mistreating customers and later hired Lisa as a replacement. Dewey warned Lisa that no one could stand working there. On Lisa's first day at work, Jer left the store and customers demanded different things from Lisa.[3]

Behind the Laughter[edit]

He was modeled on comedic actor Wally Cox.[4]
