He was mentioned by Homer when he talks to Lisa about plays. He says "You can put a lot of swears in it, that's what David Mamet does".[1] When Moe says "This is the first time I've watered down my liquor" and tells a series of lies one of the things he said was "A snappy David Mamet play"[2]

Sheridan was shown reading a script that Mamet had written and frowning as he read.
