Ken Krabappel is Edna Krabappel's ex-husband.

History

When Mrs. Krabappel tried to seduce Mr. Bergstrom, she told him that she was technically married, but it hadn't been much of a marriage since Mr. Krabappel moved out.[1] Mr. Krabappel left Edna for another woman, possibly a younger one. After Edna showed the sex-education film Fuzzy Bunny's Guide to You Know What to her class, Nelson Muntz asked why she and Mr. Krabappel didn't live together. Edna angrily replied, "Because Mr. Krabappel chased something small and fluffy down a rabbit hole," referring both to the film's characters (Fuzzy Bunny and Fluffy Bunny) and to her ex's unfaithfulness.[2]

Mr. Krabappel once put sugar in the gas tank of Edna's car after they got divorced.[3]

Behind the Laughter

In "The War of the Simpsons", several other couples were attending the marriage retreat were cut from the episode's script including Mrs. Krabappel trying to reunite with her estranged husband named Ken. Ken Krabappel was supposed to be based on singer Dean Martin, but somehow he ended up with a southern accent that made him sound like a hick.[4]

Edna Krabappel's 1993 SkyBox Simpsons Trading Cards biography has her husband's first name as Bob and she began teaching to enable her husband to finish graduate school and fifteen years later Bob still was not finish, but their marriage was.
