Male ♂
Status:
Alive
Hair: Brown
First appearance: Homer Fries!

Sam Young is a tourist who visited Springfield with his family.

History

When Homer made his own burger, The Clogger, at a Krusty Burger he let Sam Young test it. Sam told Homer that he and his family just stopped in the restaurant to visit the restroom, and that they had come to Springfield to see some of the sights from The Simpsons Guide to Springfield. However, they found the guide to be grossly misleading—for instance, the Bluegrass Festival turned out to be Cletus mowing his lawn—so they were trying to get out of town as fast as they could.

Homer, ignoring Sam's story, then shoved the burger into Sam's mouth. Sam announced that he liked it. Then, because an out-of-towner liked the new burger, many other customers in the restaurant also wanted it.

Behind the Laughter

  • In real life, Sam Young won the Ralph Wiggum Comics #1 variant covers contest (to win you had to be the first person to send Bongo a picture of you with all five of the Ralph Wiggum #1 variant covers) and was therefore Simpsonized to appear as a guest star in the comic Homer Fries!.
  • In the story, Sam is seen holding a copy of The Simpsons Guide to Springfield.
