Homer Fries! is a Simpsons Comics story first printed in Simpsons Comics #197.
Synopsis[edit]
- "Krusty the Clown considers torching one of his Krusty Burger restaurants for the insurance money until Homer comes up with a new burger for the chain that becomes a huge success. Meanwhile, Marge, concerned that Maggie is not talking yet, enrolls her daughter in an expensive preschool that guarantees results."
Plot[edit]
The Simpson family visits Krusty Burger, where Homer discovers his burger has no flavor, so he goes behind the counter and makes his own burger after the squeaky-voiced teen asks if he could make a better burger. Homer calls his burger the Clogger and lets Sam Young taste the burger, which he likes so much that everyone in the restaurant wants to taste Homer's burger, so Krusty lets Homer take over the restaurant. Homer then renames the restaurant Homer Burger. Marge tells Maggie that she would like her to start talking after she hears a visitor talking with her child. Mrs. Clanlard hears Marge's wish and tells her about Clanlard's Baby Speech Academy, and offers the first lesson for free. Marge takes Maggie to Clanlard's Baby Speech Academy, where she says her first word, so Marge decides to check on Maggie's education. Maggie starts talking more and more, but Marge is a bit disappointed that she only speaks in school. Marge herself has now also started to work as a housekepper to afford Maggie's education.
Lisa visits Homer in his restaurant and tries to tell him that what he is doing is wrong. Homer doesn't understand what he's doing wrong, and he sees that Lisa is sad. Homer renames the restaurant to Lisa Burgers, but this doesn't work. Marge lies exhausted on the couch after a day of cleaning while Maggie plays with Bart, who realizes that Maggie talking is just a trick. Bart takes Maggie to Mrs. Clanlard and confronts her: she is really Arthur Crandall who, via ventriloquism, makes mothers believe that he taught the kids to talk. Bart tells him that he has kidnapped his kid, Gabbo, and demands the money back if he ever wants to see him again. Crandall is really missing Gabbo, and pays the money. Bart then takes him to the Lisa Burger, where he finds Gabbo. Homer has allowed Lisa to change the menu so that everything is vegetarian so she can be happy again, but the customers do not like the burgers, so Crandall makes real burgers for them. Krusty takes the restaurant away from Homer and gives it to Crandall because he has forgotten what he did to him before. Marge finds out why Maggie did not speak and is ashamed that she has been so stupid, and she tells Maggie that she can tell her when she is ready. Maggie then opens her mouth at the dinner table and Lisa tells her not to talk with her mouth full of food, so she closes her mouth.
