Rafael (also commonly known as the Sarcastic Clerk, Wiseguy, Middle-Aged Man or Poison Man[1]), is a man with a sarcastic outlook on life. He is always seen having different jobs. Sideshow Bob identifies his first name as Raphael[2] He used to have a bird as a pet, Raymond Bird, which Bart and Lisa took care of until it died.[3]

He has held numerous jobs in Springfield including: garage owner,[4] mail man, taxi driver,[5] gun salesman,[6] Noiseland Video Arcade proprietor and various shop clerks and handymen. He was also seen as a money changer in the First Church of Springfield after it had it's makeover.[7] He brought an ice resurfacer for Bart to freeze the school's floor.[8] He used to work for Waverly Hills's city hall.[9] He was also a repo-man, of which when he "accidentally" hurts Milhouse, he says "Ha ha! I love this job!".[10]
