Kate Spayed is a doberman puppy owned by Waylon Smithers. She was previously owned by Michael de Graaf. The litter of puppies she was born in was descended from the first litter of puppies that Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann bred.

History[edit]

When one of the hounds gave birth to puppies, Mr. Burns had Smithers train them, using Homer as a training dummy. They were then given away to people who gave the best bribes to Burns. However, one of the puppies did not have the correct behavior to be given away, being too nice. Michael de Graaf then showed up to adopt her. de Graaf spoke to Smithers about adopting the dog and Smithers let him have her.

When Smithers and Michael started dating, Kate went with them on vacation. Eventually though, Smithers started to have issues with Michael. However, he decided that he would keep trying to see the best in Michael and stick with him. When Kate then ran up to Michael and caused him to spill his wine, Michael kicked her away. Kate then hid behind Smithers who promptly broke up with Michael and decided to keep Kate for himself.[1]

Later, Smithers took Kate to Little Vest Park.[2]

Behind the Laughter[edit]

Kate Spayed's name was revealed in a tweet by the episode's writer, Johnny LaZebnik.[3] She was also referred to by name in the March/April 2022 issue of Attitude magazine, which had an "interview" with Smithers.[4] The name is a reference to fashion designer Kate Spade.
