Long John Silver was on the cover of Treasure Island when Bart was doing a report on the book. Bart did not read the book, instead winging his speech by saying the book was about "Pirates with green birds on their shoulders and shiny gold teeth". Mrs. Krabappel easily saw through this slapdash report and asked Bart the name of the pirate. Bart incorrectly guessed "Bluebeard". When Bart dreamed of his future, where he was still stuck at school, he imagined getting asked the name of the antagonist in Treasure Island, to which Bart still has failed to read the book. his son told him that it was "Long John Silver". which suggests that the younger Bart was a somewhat more serious student.[1]
Lisa jumps into into Krusty's live on-air sketches dressed up as pirate. When Krusty ask for her name, she says she's Long John Seltzer and immediately sprays him in the face.[2]
