Sheriff Homer is a character in a western story told by Grampa.

History

In 1897, Homer arrived in Springfield and went to Moe's Saloon to get a drink. The bar wench, Margerie, tried to flirt with him, but Homer was uninterested. Sheriff Wiggum, who had heard that Montgomery Burns was going to shoot him, challenged Homer to a card game, with the winner getting a free beer and Margerie. During the game, Sheriff Wiggum put up his badge as a bet, and Homer won, becoming the new sheriff.

Montgomery Burns arrived in town to shoot the sheriff. Apu gave Homer a gun so he could take part in the duel. Margerie gave Homer a pie, which he decided to keep in his jacket for later. Montgomery Burns started the countdown but skipped "two" and shot Homer. Homer went down, seemingly dead, and the townspeople chased Burns out of town. Homer then sat up, the bullet having hit the pie in his jacket and saving his life.
