"El Homo" was Homer Simpson's attempt to create a graffiti nickname for himself, similar to Bart's "El Barto".

History[edit]

Homer and Lisa Simpson were working on a Domiciles for the Destitute homebuilding project. Homer was painting when Lisa heard him chuckling to himself, "If Bart can be 'El Barto' ..." Lisa then turned and saw that Homer had painted "EL HOMO" on the wall.

Just after that, a Gay Latino man approached Homer and said, "If only I had your courage, Señor", evidently interpreting the tag to be a declaration of homosexuality rather than a Latinized version of Homer's name. When Homer realized what the man meant, he screamed and began frantically painting the rest of the wall to cover the words up.[1]

When Homer was hypnotized to believe that he was ten years old, he and Bart went graffiti-tagging together. Bart spray-painted "El Barto was here" on a wall, and next to it, Homer spray-painted "Homo too".[2]
