Mr. Muntz is Nelson's father. He has a motorbike and was once Nelson's soccer couch.^[1] When his wife got got hooked on cough drops, he left the family with her gold tooth, with the excuse that he "went to the store for a pack of cigarettes". Nelson missed his father and often believed he really went for cigarettes.

Bart once found Mr. Muntz at a circus and brought him back. He explained he never intended to leave the family: when he went for the cigarettes, he also bought a chocolate bar, which unfortunately had peanuts, which he is allergic to. When he bit the bar, his face swelled and couldn't talk. A man from a circus took him away for a freak show where people would see him inside a cage. Now he came back, they are a family again.^[2]
