Character Information
|
Margarine of Aragon was the ex-wife of King Henry VIII and daughter of King of Spain. She appeared in a story told by Marge.
History
King Henry VIII was unhappy that he didn't have a son, even though he and Margarine kept trying. When Margarine arrived in court, Henry VIII brought up their sex life in court, which annoyed her. Eventually, Henry VIII revealed to her that he wanted a divorce since she couldn't sire a child. After seeing a marriage counselor, Henry VIII went to see Thomas More who told him that he couldn't divorce Margarine as the church wouldn't allow it. Henry VIII then made his own church so he could divorce Margarine.
After the divorce, Margarine got half of Henry VIII's kingdom, getting Ireland, which Henry VIII was displeased with. At some point after this, Henry locked her in the dungeon. Years later, after Henry VIII married and executed multiple wives, he was dying. Margarine went to visit him on his death bed where he asked Margarine if she would take him back. Margarine then smothered him with a pillow, killing him.
Behind the Laughter
Margarine of Aragon is a parody of Catherine of Aragon, the real first wife of Henry VIII.
