Character Information
|
Long John Silver is a fictional pirate and one of the main characters in Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson.
History
Bart was supposed to give a book report on Treasure Island as a class assignment, but he didn't read the book. When Mrs. Krabappel called on Bart to give his report, he tried to fake his way through it. However, Mrs. Krabappel caught Bart out when she asked him to name the pirate in the book and Bart answered, "Bluebeard". As punishment, Mrs. Krabappel gave Bart lines, making him write "I will not fake my way through life" on the chalkboard.
Future
Bart envisioned a future where he never passed the fourth grade, and he and his son Bart Simpson, Jr. were in the same class. An elderly Mrs. Krabappel called on a middle-aged Bart, Sr. to name the pirate in Treasure Island, and he still couldn't come up with the name. Instead, he said in a surly fashion, "Look, lady. I got a peptic ulcer, my wife's hocking me for a new car, and I need a root canal. Willya quit buggin' me about the stupid pirate!" Bart, Jr. interrupted and whispered "Long John Silver" to his father, but Mrs. Krabappel caught him and asked to see both Bart, Sr. and Bart, Jr. after class.Appearances
