Rhett Butler is a character in Gone with the Wind played by Clark Gable.

History[edit]

In the edited for seniors version they showed at the Springfield Retirement Castle, Scarlett O'Hara asked Rhett Butler where she would go and what she would do. Rick told her he loved her, and said they should remarry, with the film abruptly ending there.[1]

In the montage of kisses when Nikki did CPR on Bart was a scene from Gone with the Wind where Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara were kissing.[2]

Marshall Goldman, human interest columnist for the Springfield Shopper asked Abe Simpson for another story and he learned about how Abe used to be a shoeshine boy at Springfield Union Station where the Tinseltown Starliner filled with movie stars stopped each Monday on the way to Hollywood. Little Abe once poshed the shoes of Clark Gable when Gable ask what he was reading. It was a copy of Gone with the Wind which little Abe gifted to Gable who then skim-read it and liked it.[3]
