History[edit]
When Bart's class was studying the California Gold Rush, Ranger Todd visited the class to perform a puppet show about it. The puppet show went over when James Marshall first found gold at the Sutter's Mill before other people found out about it and flocked to the location. However, the prospectors ended up going broke and ended up with disease, starvation, exposure, and death. Mrs. Krabappel told Ranger Todd that she expected a story about the colorful old prospectors they see in movies, but Todd told her that they weren't colorful.
