The mountain man is one of the original residents of the Outlands who initially encountered the Simpson family after they were banished from Springfield.

History[edit]

He encountered the Simpsons while they were driving away from Springfield at night. Bart needed to take a leak, so Homer stopped the car for him to do so. Unaware of who they were, he held Homer at gunpoint, demanding he "get back where you belong." After Marge explained that they had been thrown out of their home and were only looking to live out their lives in peace, he immediately changed his demeanor, understanding what it meant to be rejected by society. He introduced the family to the Outlands settlement afterward.

While Homer felt relieved and optimistic about finding a new home, proclaiming that "when God shuts a door, he opens a window," he promptly warned them not to leave their windows open because coyotes could take their baby, scaring Maggie in the process.

Some time later, after the residents of Springfield slowly but surely started taking over the Outlands, he was seen outraged, stating he wasn't comfortable living too close to medical care and immediately left the settlement.
