When George H. W. Bush and Homer had a fight that ended up on street level in public view they do it in front of a visiting Mikhail Gorbachev, among others. George initially refused to apologize for spanking Bart because he didn't want to show weakness in front of the Russians. He eventually relented and apologized, but immediately afterwards he told Barbara Bush that they were leaving town.[1]

Krusty, during his midnight show at Mr. Burns' Casino, said that the birthmark on Gorbachev's forehead is herpes.[2]
