Ariel is a mermaid from Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid.

History[edit]

Ariel in her human form.

Ariel is a mermaid who received the legs of the sea witch after falling in love with a man who saved. The sea witch told her that if her true love married someone else she would be turned into foam. Homer proposed to her, but she did not dare to say yes so he married someone else and she was turned into foam. When Homer was going to drink a beer, he saw Ariel in the foam and she told him that she loved him and they got married.[1]

Ariel, in her human form, was waiting her turn to see Homer dressed as Santa Claus.[2]

Behind the Laughter[edit]

The Little Mermaid in Hans Christian Anderson's fairy tale doesn't have a name. Her naming in this story is from the Disney franchise based on the story.
