A butterfly is a small insect.
History[edit]
Maggie Simpson sees a butterfly fly past her window. She chases it across the roof of the house, catches it and falls off the roof. The butterfly later flies away.[1]
When talking about his afterlife believes, Bart says he wants to come back as a butterfly, because "nobody ever suspects the butterfly". Bart then imagines the school burnt down, with Skinner being arrested for it, while a Bart butterfly is seen with a gas can.[2]
Upon arrival on a tropical island as a missionary, a butterfly burrows into Homer's arm. The butterfly can then be seen under Homer's skin, heading up to his brain.[3]
While sleeping, Homer swallows a caterpillar which exits his mouth as a butterfly.[4]
