History

Milford A. Alexander wed him and Aline at Shotgun Pete's after asking Cletus if he would take Aline to be his his lawful-wedded wife and he simply replied with "yup".

Behind the Laughter

The first name Cletus came from this episode's writer Jeff Martin who grew up in Houston, Texas where Cletus was the name of his little league baseball coach. The name would be reused for "slack-jawed yokel" Cletus Spuckler.
